Ever heard a Designer say "C.O.M." or "C.F.A.? We also like to throw around language like "Railroad" or "Up the bolt". So what do these terms mean? This section will explore many of the most common Design Terms to help you better understand our language.

C.F.A. - Cutting For Approval
This term is used when we order fabric and want to make sure that the material dye lot matches the sample or previous order we had on hand when making the design selections. This step adds time, but is crucial in making sure the colors are not drastically off from the sample or original fabric we used to make decisions with. The manufacturer will send us a small cutting from the bolt of fabric in stock to approve. If it is drastically different, we can request a cutting from another dye lot. Once we confirm that the sample on hand matches the C.F.A., the manufacturer will release the order to ship.
